We are a small, dynamic company with a mission to provide advanced navigation and map display software to the marine and outdoor recreation community.
The digital mapping market is dominated by big players like Microsoft, providing mainstream solutions for "street-level" navigation. They use vector map databases that give very little detail beyond the roads and highways. This is driving down the cost of GPS positioning and handheld computers. Our plan is to exploit this rapidly evolving technology in the niche recreation markets, partnering with specialist map and chart producers to provide a state-of-the-art solution.
You may be wondering (like most of the competition!) how we achieved the fast scrolling and zooming in Memory-Map Navigator. Richard is a software developer with 15 year's experience in scientific super-computing and high-performance real-time systems such as medical imaging machines and high-end radar systems. Think of a giant radar, generating hundreds of megabytes of data per second. All this data is processed and presented to the operator in a few milliseconds. This background gives a programmer a different mind-set from a typical windows or database programmer!
